Texas Instruments introduces the LM66100 (general-purpose) and LM66100-Q1 (automotive) diodes, featuring a single-input, single-output (SISO) integrated ideal diode design, catering to diverse application needs. These diodes are equipped with a P-channel MOSFET capable of operating within an input voltage range of 1.5 V to 5.5 V, with a maximum continuous current support of 1.5 A.
The chip-enable (CE) functionality is pivotal in these diodes, where the CE pin voltage comparison with the input voltage determines the operational state. If the CE pin voltage exceeds the input voltage (VIN), the devices are disabled, turning off the MOSFET. Conversely, when the CE pin voltage is lower than VIN, the MOSFET is activated.
A significant feature of the LM66100 and LM66100-Q1 diodes is their provision of reverse polarity protection (RPP), safeguarding against miswired inputs like reversed batteries. This protection ensures device integrity and prevents potential damage due to incorrect connections.
Moreover, these diodes can be employed in an O-Ring configuration, akin to a dual diode O-Ring setup, where two devices manage input and output voltages effectively. They facilitate the passage of the highest input voltage to the output while preventing reverse current flow into the input supplies. Internal voltage comparators ensure that reverse current is effectively blocked, enhancing system reliability.
Packaged in the standard SC-70 package, these diodes offer an operating junction temperature range spanning from -40°C to +125°C, ensuring robust performance across varied environmental conditions. With their versatile features and robust design, the LM66100 and LM66100-Q1 diodes from Texas Instruments emerge as ideal solutions for applications demanding reliable input polarity protection and efficient current management.
