About  CODECS

CODECs (Coder-Decoder) are semiconductor devices that are utilized to transform data through compression and decompression techniques. The primary purpose of CODECs is to reduce the size of data for efficient transmission and storage. By compressing the data, transmission speeds can be improved, and storage space can be minimized. Some advanced CODECs offer impressive performance capabilities, including up to 32 bits of resolution. They may also incorporate multiple analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs), ranging from six to eight converters. This enables high-quality conversion between analog and digital signals. CODECs support various data interfaces to facilitate data transfer. These interfaces include Sigma-Delta modulation, I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit), I2S (Inter-IC Sound), SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), Serial, HDA (High Definition Audio), S/DIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface), PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), USB (Universal Serial Bus), AC'97 (Audio Codec '97), and SLIMbus (Serial Low-power Inter-chip Media Bus).
