Texas Instruments' TUSB564 is a VESA USB Type-C Alt Mode redriving switch that operates at a 3.3 V power supply, delivering enhanced performance. This device supports USB 3.1 data rates up to 5 Gbps and display port connectivity up to 8.1 Gbps for the upstream facing port (sink).
Designed specifically for UFP_D pin assignments C, D, and E from the VESA display port alt mode on USB Type-C standard, the TUSB564 offers several levels of receive linear equalization to compensate for intersymbol interference caused by cable and board trace loss.
Operating on a single 3.3 V supply, the TUSB564 is available in both commercial and industrial temperature ranges. It is particularly useful for sink applications, as it enables systems to pass transmitter compliance and receiver jitter tolerance tests for USB 3.1 Gen1 and display port version 1.4 HBR3.
The re-driver functionality of the TUSB564 recovers incoming data by applying equalization that compensates for channel loss and drives out signals with a high differential voltage. Each channel features a receiver equalizer with selectable gain settings, allowing independent equalization control using EQ [1:0], SSEQ [1:0], and DPEQ [1:0] pins.
Thanks to its advanced state machine, the TUSB564 seamlessly integrates into hosts and devices. Upon power-up, it performs receiver detection on the TX pairs periodically. If a USB 3.1 receiver is detected, the RX termination is enabled, and the TTUSB564 is ready to redrive.
In addition to its ultra-low-power architecture, the TUSB564 also offers automatic LFPS (Low-Frequency Periodic Signaling) de-emphasis control. This feature further enables the system to be USB 3.1 compliant.
