MikroElektronika's MIKROE-5597 RS485 Isolator 3 Click is a compact add-on board that enhances RS485 communication systems by providing electrical isolation and signal conditioning. This board incorporates the ADM2763E, a 5.7 kVRMS signal-isolated RS485 transceiver from Analog Devices, specifically designed for low-speed operation over long cable runs. With a maximum data rate of 500 kbps, it offers reliable performance while being protected against electrostatic discharge (ESD) events, making it suitable for industrial environments.
The board's robust protection capabilities are evident in its resistance to ≥±12 kV contact and ≥±15 kV air IEC 61000-4-2 ESD events on the RS485 A, B, Y, and Z pins. Additionally, the screw terminal blocks provide easy access to these key pins. Moreover, the board includes receiver/driver control pins, a receiver cable invert pin for quickly correcting reversed cable connections, and a built-in fail-safe feature for the bus idle condition, ensuring dependable and secure communication.
Designed to meet the insulation requirements of various industrial and automation applications, the RS485 Isolator 3 Click offers protection against working voltages of 1060 VRMS and 1500 VDC for the device's lifetime.
