FTDI's USB high-speed USB bridge includes power delivery (PD) functionality for a comprehensive solution to power delivery. The power delivery series features up to two Type-C/PD ports, allowing users to connect multiple devices simultaneously.
The PD1 port supports both power sink and source roles (initial sink), while the PD2 port only supports a power sink port role. Both PD ports support 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, 15 V, and 20 V PDO profiles, which are configurable through an external EEPROM at power-up or reset. This allows users to select the optimal power delivery profile for their specific application, ensuring reliable performance.
The PD1 port shares the same Type-C connector with USB data, providing a convenient and versatile solution for power delivery and USB data transfer. The PD2 port, on the other hand, is a power-only port that doesn't support USB data transfer.
