Lumissil's introduces the IS31FL3248, an exceptional LED driver designed for applications requiring precise control of numerous LEDs through a simple four-wire serial bus operating at 33 MHz. With its SDI and SDO pins, multiple devices can be daisy-chained, enabling seamless LED control via a single serial interface.
This versatile driver IC allows efficient current setting for all 48 channels, with up to 33 mA per channel through an external resistor. Fine adjustments can be made using software registers to modify the three-channel grouping current and individual channel current. Additionally, brightness levels can be easily controlled for each grouping using an 8-bit register, while a 6-bit register enables adjustment of brightness deviation between channels.
To ensure optimal performance and minimize system noise generation, Lumissil has incorporated proprietary programmable algorithms into the IS31FL3248. Particularly, the inclusion of a programmable spread spectrum function aids in reducing electromagnetic energy peaks associated with PWM switching on the LED outputs by spreading the energy across a wider frequency range. Moreover, the driver IC offers a selectable 180-degree phase delay for the output channels, effectively reducing power supply inrush current and further mitigating electromagnetic interference.
The IS31FL3248 also boasts real-time LED open (LOD) and short (LSD) diagnostic capabilities. When enabled, any LED open or short condition can be promptly detected, with the status information conveniently stored in a system-readable register for easy access and analysis.
