Analog Devices' ADMV8526 is an integrated circuit (IC) that offers a digitally tunable band-pass filter (BPF) with a frequency range from 1.25 GHz to 2.6 GHz. This single tunable filter can be easily configured through a 4-wire SPI command, allowing for real-time adjustments in the system.
The ADMV8526 incorporates a patent-pending interpolation technique, enabling precise control over the center frequency (fCENTER) with an 8-bit value (256 states). The typical 3 dB bandwidth is 9%, and the adjustability is ±2%, providing flexibility in tailoring the filter response.
With a low insertion loss of typically 4 dB and a rejection of 20 dB at a distance of 16% away from fCENTER, the ADMV8526 is ideal for minimizing system interferers. It offers a compact alternative to large switched filter banks and discrete component-based tunable filters, reducing system complexity and design effort.
The ADMV8526-EVALZ serves as an evaluation board for the ADMV8526. It includes the ADMV8526 chip, a negative voltage generator, low dropout (LDO) regulators, and an interface to the EVAL-SDP-CS1Z (SDP-S) system demonstration platform. This allows for easy evaluation of the ADMV8526's performance and features. The negative voltage generator and LDO regulators enable power supply options from either the 5 V USB supply voltage or external power supplies.
For programming and control, the ADMV8526 utilizes a 4-wire SPI interface. The SDP-S controller facilitates communication between the user and the ADMV8526's SPI through the Analog Devices, Inc., Analysis, Control Evaluation (ACE) software, providing a user-friendly interface for configuration and optimization.
